Spartan Space on show at the French national assembly

EUROHAB (Version 2), a project supported by the Jacques Rougerie Foundation, has "taken off" from the Cour d'Honneur after almost two months on show at the Palais Bourbon.

On 19 June 2023, Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the French National Assembly, opened the "Ariane: an odyssey" conference to mark the 50th anniversary of the Ariane programme, in the presence of Thomas Pesquet, astronaut; Claudie Haigneré, former French minister and astronaut; Josef Aschbacher, Director General of the European Space Agency; Martin Sion, Executive Chairman of ArianeGroup; Philippe Baptiste, President of CNES; and Peter Weiss, President of the European Space Agency. Josef Aschbacher, Director General of the European Space Agency; Martin Sion, Executive Chairman of ArianeGroup; Philippe Baptiste, Chairman of CNES; and Peter Weiss, Chairman of Spartan Space.

Three space installations were presented at the Palais Bourbon, with the aim of "raising awareness of space issues among MPs and all political staff". As one of France's New Space start-ups, Spartan Space was invited to present its EUROHAB lunar module, alongside the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) and Ariane Group.

It was an ideal opportunity to discuss France's role in space and the need to promote a strong French contribution to future lunar missions.

After walking on the moon, it may soon be possible for scientists and astronauts to stay there thanks to the EUROHAB lunar hut designed by Peter Weiss and the start-up Spartan Space. Awarded the Jacques Rougerie Foundation’s Architecture Prize in 2020, this accompany project to future lunar exploration missions was able to build its prototype inflatable and mobile structure with the ESA-European Space Agency and Air Liquide thanks to the Foundation’s network.
