At the Institut de France, Laurent Petitgirard, Permanent Secretary of the Académie des beaux-arts and President of the Foundation, signed several cooperation agreements with three of Mexico’s leading higher education institutions: the Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, and the Universidad de Guadalajara.
These agreements mark a new milestone in a collaborative initiative launched nearly two years ago between the Foundation, the French Embassy in Mexico, the Institut français d'Amérique latine, and Mexican universities. They build on the exchanges initiated during the Night of Ideas 2025 and further strengthened by the recent mission to Mexico City led by Anne Démians, Jacques Rougerie, and Francis Soler.
These partnerships open new avenues for cooperation in the fields of biomimicry, architectural innovation, future habitability, water transition, and territorial resilience. They will also strengthen the international reach of the International Architecture and Innovation Competition, expand the Junior Ambassadors network, and encourage academic exchanges between students, researchers, and faculty members from both countries.
Through these agreements, the Académie des beaux-arts and the Foundation pursue a shared ambition: to build lasting bridges between France and Mexico in order to educate and inspire the generations that will imagine and shape the living environments of tomorrow.
The Foundation extends its sincere thanks to Laurent Petitgirard, Delphine Borione, Ambassador of France to Mexico, Emmanuel Eveno, Delphine Jourdain, the Institut français d'Amérique latine, as well as the leadership and delegations of the UNAM, UAM, and UdeG for their trust and commitment.
